• Hello Parents and Guardians!

I use Google Classroom to push out assignments to all of my classes.  Are you new to Google classroom?  Here is a video that should help: https://youtu.be/IgS-hoSIjnw

    How to help your child:

    • Check their notes - are they taking quality notes?  Scanned copies of my notes are available to all students on Google Classroom.  Note taking is a skill we practice before students go off to high school.  Your child should be taking notes around 2 times per week in my class.
    • Check their grades - are they turning in their assignments?  I do not accept late homework since they have a week to do it, but I will accept late classwork if students needed extra time.  Please have your child email me when they turn in an assignment late so I don't miss it as I enter the grades.  I do not receive notifications when students turn in late work.
    • Help them study.  Complete extra problems from the textbook (odd problems have answers in the back of the book).  Review their notes.  Have them practice on Khan Academy.  Ask them what's going to be on the test - they should know!

I will keep Q updated with the most current grades, so you need to check ParentConnection or have your child check StudentConnection to see their most updated scores and grades.  Please keep in mind that it is possible for students to click "Turn In" on a Google Classroom assignment without actually completing (or opening) the assignment! Also, some assignments will have links on Google Classroom but are actually going to be completed on another website.  For these reasons, it is imperative that you trust the ParentConnection grade and NOT the Google Classroom grade.

If you would like to contact me, please do not hesitate to email me at ahill@pleasantvalleysd.org.  I am sure as the year begins there will be changes (it seems like things change every couple of hours), but I can assure you that I will keep you informed and I will work very hard to support your children in their learning journeys.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Hill
