How to Add a Form to Your ParentSquare Post
Before you begin, ensure you are logged into your ParentSquare account on a desktop browser, as creating forms is easiest on a computer rather than the mobile app.
Step 1: Start a New Post
- Navigate to your ParentSquare home screen.
- Click the New Post button, typically located at the top of your main feed.
- Select your audience in the To field (e.g., a specific class, grade level, or group).
- Add your Subject and draft the main message of your post in the text box. Explain to your recipients why they need to fill out the form and the deadline.
Step 2: Attach a Form
- In the Post Add-ons menu on the left-hand side, click on Form / Permission Slip.
- A new window will pop up underneath the description field in your post. You will have two options:
- Use a Template: Select a pre-existing form created by your school or district.
- Create New: Build a brand new form from scratch.
Step 3: Build Your Form (If Creating New)
- Give your form a clear Title.
- Click Add Question to start building. You can choose from several question types:
- Short Answer: For simple text responses (e.g., student name).
- Multiple Choice / Dropdown: For selecting one option from a list (e.g., t-shirt size).
- Checkboxes: For selecting multiple options.
- Date/Time: For scheduling or recording dates.
- Check the Required box next to any question that the user must answer before submitting.
- If this is a permission slip, you can add an Electronic Signature block at the bottom.
Step 4: Set Form Settings and Save
- On the right side of the form builder, look for your settings.
- Set a Deadline so the form automatically closes when you no longer need responses.
- Decide if you want to allow parents to edit their responses after submitting.
- Once your questions and settings look good, click the Save or Attach button at the bottom.
Step 5: Post Your Message
- You will be routed back to your main post draft. You should now see your form attached as a green block below your message.
- Double-check your text, audience, and attached form.
- Click Post Now (or use the drop-down arrow to Schedule the post for later).
Pro-Tip for Managing Responses: Once your post is live, you can track responses in real-time. Just navigate to your post, and click on the View Responses or Form/Permission Slip tab to see who has filled it out, who hasn't, and to easily export the data to a spreadsheet!
