PVSD is committed to the identification and service of special education students within the least restrictive environment and with access to the general education core curriculum. Services and placements are assigned in accordance with each student’s I.E.P. (Individualized Educational Program) which is based on his or her unique needs.

A range of special education programs and services are available. A continuum from least-to-more restrictive services are available to all qualifying preschool through 8th grade students. Special day class, resource and/or speech/language services are provided within the district. Also, services for deaf, blind, or severely orthopedically handicapped (low incidence) or severely handicapped students are available through the Ventura County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).
