Welcome & Classroom Information

  • Hello,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  My name is Mrs. Hill and I teach Math 7, Accelerated Math, and a new elective called Math By Design here at Las Colinas Middle School.  We are starting the instructional year in distance learning (DL) and we will change to a modified schedule once we are able to return to the campus.  Details about these two schedules are below.

    Distance Learning

During distance Learning, middle schools will operate on a 3x3 model, alternating quarter block schedule.  All students will be taking three classes each quarter, and those three courses will focus on the priority standards in that subject area.

Here is our schedule for Distance Learning:

    Period 1:  8:40 - 10:15

    Break: 10:15 - 10:30

    Period 2:  10:35 - 12:05

    Lunch: 12:05 - 12:40

    Period 3: 12:45 - 2:15

Modified Traditional Schedule (once we are back in the classroom together)

Classes will be held on an A/B rotating schedule (2 week rotation)

    Week 1: AABAB

    Week 2: BABAB

Students are responsible for checking my teacher page and Google Classroom page to retrieve their assignments.  I will be using Zoom for live teaching my classes.  The links to all assignments will be found in Google Classroom, but keep in mind that some of these assignments will be completed outside of Google Classroom (on different websites or even on paper).

Are you new to Google Classsroom?  Here is a short video that will help: https://youtu.be/88idNZxeZbo

Use the other tabs on my teacher page to see more specific information about each one of the classes.  I am optimistic about this school year and I know that if we support one another, we can acheive anything we put our minds to!
