Welcome & Classroom Information

    News and Information

Welcome to 8th grade! Originally from Bakersfield, California, the coast is my home! Here I am today, 25+ years later, still loving my job. I look forward to working with you! The instructional year will look a bit different during distance learning and will change to a modified schedule once we are back in the classroom. My goal for the year is to create a positive, productive learning environment where students learn problem-solving and critical-thinking skills toward becoming more independent learners.

During distance learning, the schedule is as follows: Grades 6-8 will operate on a 3X3 model, alternating quarter block schedule. Students will take three classes each quarter. The first half of the class is covered in either quarter one or two with the second half covered either quarter three or four. Courses will cover the full year of content through this compressed model.

8:15-8:40- Teacher: grading, prep, planning, communicating, collaborating, meetings

    8:40-10:15- Per 1

    10:15-10-30 Break

    10:35-12:05 Per 2

    12:05-12:40 Lunch

    12:45-2:15 Per 3

2:15-3:20 Teacher: grading, prep, planning, communicating, collaborating, meetings

Modified traditional (once we go back to the classroom)

Classes will be held on an A/B Rotating Schedule (2-week rotation).

    Week 1: AABAB

    Week 2:  BABAB

Students are responsible for checking my google classroom to retrieve their assignments.  I will be using Zoom for live teaching my classes. Google Classroom will be the common platform to retrieve assignments and to find where to submit assignments. Email questions regarding assignments to srydberg@pleasantvalleysd.org, or a student can share a question on a Google doc with me in Google classroom.  I will get back to you with a response or a suggestion.

Please note:  During distance learning, appropriate online behavior is expected. Make sure commentary and conversation is appropriate just as it would be in the classroom.

I am looking forward to working with you this year and having a successful rewarding year.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! srydberg@pleasantvalleysd.org
