Welcome & Classroom Information

    News and Information

Welcome to 6th grade! I grew up in Bakersfield California and new I loved teaching in high school. I was a lifeguard and swim instructor for Special Olympics and enjoyed seeing students learn and grow and knew that was what I wanted to do when I grew up. Here I am today, 20+ years later still loving my job. I look forward to meeting you and getting to work and grow with my students and parents this year.

Parents, please review your student's agenda book for the homework assignments as they may have changed during the class period that day and may not match what I have documented online at the beginning of the day.  The agenda book should be the primary source for what assignments are due in which classes.  Students are expected to have their assignments written down correctly and completely before they leave school according to what each core teacher has written on their whiteboards.
All Classes - My goal for the year is to create a positive, productive learning environment where the students learn problem-solving and critical-thinking skills toward becoming more independent learners.
Mathematics - In mathematics, we are working toward meeting the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.
Students are expected to write their homework in their agenda book daily. It should match what is documented on my teacher linked web page.
Science - In Science we are using the Earth Science textbook. There is rarely homework for Science. Homework will usually be just before a test, and when we have small projects. Expect to see Science homework about once every week or two.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
