Distance Learning Protocols for Students and Parents/Guardians
Parents/guardians, please review the following guidelines with your student.

    Students
    1) When joining Zoom or Google Meet virtual meetings/lessons, always have your
microphone on mute unless you are speaking.
    2) If you want to speak during a discussion, raise your hand so it can be seen in the
    camera.
    3) Try to only have one person speak at a time so that you do not speak over other
    people.
    4) Always use appropriate language and tone.
    5) Do not make comments about other people’s houses or rooms they are in.
    6) Remember your camera is on and other people can see you. Do not do anything
you don’t want other people to see.
    7) Do not take pictures, screenshots, or use recording options on any virtual meeting
    applications.

    Parents/Guardians
    1) Please support your child with connecting to the virtual meeting.
    2) Do not participate in your student’s class session or meeting. Stay off camera.
    3) Try to limit background noises (dogs barking, other children playing, etc.)
Helpful tip: Earbuds/Headphones might be a great option to help keep your
    learner focused on the task.
    4) Remember that things you say, even from a distance, may be heard by your
    student’s classmates and teacher.
    5) Do not take pictures, screenshots, or use recording options on any virtual meeting
    applications.
    6) All content shared during a virtual meeting is confidential and should not be
shared in any way. Teachers will post class lesson content separately following
    protocols they have been given.
Your cooperation with these guidelines is appreciated. All students are required to abide
by the terms in the Technology Acceptable Use Agreement and Chromebook Agreements that were
signed at the beginning of the school year. Students who do not follow these protocols will
be given a paper-based alternative assignment to complete.

    News and Information

Welcome to 8th grade! Originally from Bakersfield, California, the coast is my home! Here I am today, 25+ years later, still loving my job. I look forward to working with you!

Parents, please review your student's agenda book for the homework assignments as the agenda book should be the primary source for what assignments are due in which classes. Students are expected to have their assignments written down correctly and completely before they leave school according to what each core teacher has written on their homework listing (whiteboard, or touch screen). My goal for the year is to create a positive, productive learning environment where the students learn problem-solving and critical-thinking skills toward becoming more independent learners.

Mathematics - In mathematics, we are working toward meeting the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. We are using Big Ideas Math. Students are expected to bring their textbook, supplies and Chrombook to classes daily.
Students are expected to write their homework in their agenda book daily. It should match what is documented on my teacher web page.

Students can access further information in their Google Classroom for their class period. Parents, you will have to ask your child to log into their Google Classroom as the system is only accessible to students within PVSD assigned to each teacher's class.

    Math period 1 - q225v3j

    Math period 2 -ewioxz4

    Math period 3 - wmuhgek

Directed Studies - Students are expected to document their homework in each core class BEFoRE arriving to Directed Studies Elective. The agenda book will be checked daily for accuracy and completness. Directed Studies in a class period designed to give students the opportunity to get additional instruction for things they did not understand in classes, work on assignments, complete tests, and study for upcoming test.

Students can access further information in their Google Classroom for their teachers. For Directed Studies the code is
