Welcome & Classroom Information
I welcome the opportunity to communicate with both students and parents regarding academic progress. To preserve confidentiality, I will not discuss student progress during class time. Students may arrange to meet with me privately during breaks or after school when necessary. Parents and/or guardians may contact me regarding their student in several ways:
E-Mail: This is the most efficient method of contacting me. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Phone: Call the school and leave a message during school hours. I will return your call as soon as possible, within 24 hours.
Note or Letter: This is the least efficient method of contact. Students often misplace or forget notes to/from the teacher. If you have sent a note to school and I have not responded within a reasonable amount of time, please call or email.
Please see the Homework tab for your student's class to get information about DISTANCE LEARNING
MDTP Assessment Info:
I wanted to give you some information about the MDTP assessment that students will be taking next week for math. Since we do not have CAASPP testing this year, we want to provide the high schools with some information about what you’ve learned in 8th grade. We are all going to have to do some review in the fall when school resumes, and the high schools would like to see what topics you already know and if there are any topics in which you will need some extra support.
With that in mind, please take your time, do your best, and work on your own. For this test, calculators are not allowed, so you should have paper and a writing utensil ready to do the calculations. If you rush through and don’t take your time, you might get questions incorrect and it might look like you need more help than you actually do. If you get help on this test, it might appear that you have a concept mastered, and you won’t receive that support when you actually need it. If you truly do not know the answer to a question, it is better to leave it blank than to take a guess.
I am asking that you attend the following Zoom meeting to take the test:
- Periods 1A and 2B: Tuesday, May 26 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
- Periods 1B and 3B: Wednesday, May 27 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
- Period 3A: Thursday, May 28 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
- Make-Up: Friday, May 29 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
If you cannot make the specific day listed, please email me so I can arrange for you to work another day. This assessment is your only required assignment next week because I want you to put all of your attention on it! There will be no office hours. You are always welcome to send me an email or post a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Since you have no other assignments, you can use this week to get caught up on any work you are missing. I will be posting an optional assignment on Monday just in case you really want to do some extra math 😃 (this could take the place of an assignment that you did not do).
