Welcome & Classroom Information
For assignments and due dates please check the calendar (in your binder and/or on Google Classroom) for the current unit of study. Each student has a copy in his/her binder. If your student is in need of another copy, these are located on our Google Classroom. Here you will be able to find all important assignments, discussion pages, etc. that we have been working on. At times, students may even turn in their assignments through Google Classroom! Each class has a specific code for their specific class. Students will learn how to enroll in Google Classroom as well as navigate the site the first few days of school.
Google Classroom Enrollment Codes (lowercase)
We have the pleasure of piloting two new Social Studies books this year. At the end of the year the students and I will evaluate the textbooks and see which book fits our needs and wants best! There will be a class set of books in the classroom and students will have access to the online version for at home use. The codes below are for our current adoption. I will update them when our first publisher (National Geographic!) activates them. Hopefully this will be within the first week of school. Stay tuned!

Dear Students and Parents,
I look forward to getting to know you and I know this will be an amazing year!
CONTACTING THE TEACHER
I welcome the opportunity to communicate with both students and parents regarding academic progress. To preserve confidentiality, I will not discuss student progress during class time. Students may arrange to meet with me privately during breaks or after school when necessary. Parents and/or guardians may contact me regarding their student in several ways:
- E-Mail: This is the most efficient method of contacting me. My e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org
- Phone: Call the school and leave a message during school hours. I will return your call withn 48 hours. The school phone number is (805) 482-8891.
- Note or Letter: Please jot down your questions or concerns on your student's agenda and as long as they remember to show it to me, I will respond promptly.
Please also come to MV and sign up for ParentConnect. This will give you 24/7 access to my gradebook and will allow you to see your child's current grade as well as any missing assignments.
Again, a copy of what to expect this year is located in Google Classroom. This is where printable assignments will be uploaded for your printing pleasure. During Back to School night I will be able to get you signed up for Google Guardian... we'll talk about this soon!
Looking forward to a great year!!!
