Welcome & Classroom Information
Welcome to a new school year at Monte Vista. I am excited as we continue our adventure with California Math Standards. These standards build upon and enhance the previously established California standards by asking students to develop their mathematical understanding, explain their reasoning, and apply their knowledge. The heightened expectations will challenge students to think critically and logically, to preserver when faced with the unfamiliar, and to see how their knowledge can be applied to life situations.
As students face these challenges, they are not alone. Students will have class explanation and notes, guided examples in the text, text lesson videos for some lessons, after school assistance once a week from a MV math teacher, and peer assistance during lunch once a week. Also, don't forget about the free tutoring provided at the Camarillo Library.
Seventh grade students will be piloting Pearson's CMP3 series for the first semester. They will not have a take-home-text; therefore, class notes are very important. Assignment sheets will be posted on my teacher web site.
I welcome the opportunity to communicate with parents and students regarding academic progress. Students may arrange to meet with me after school or during breaks. Parents and/or guardians may contact me through email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by phone (805-482-8891). I will return your email or phone call within two school days. We all have the common goal of meeting students' needs for success.
