Welcome & Classroom Information

  • Welcome to Distant Learning!  Each week I will post information on my Teacher Pages.  The week's two lessons will be posted in Google Classroom.  I plan to send out each lesson Monday morning and have them due on Wednesday and Friday.  Look for teacher comments on the document by the next week.  I will be holding “office hours” each week for interested students using Zoom(teleconferencing) which will enable us to chat on the screen if you have any questions regarding the lessons for that week, or you just want to say hello. You will find Zoom login information in each week's Google Classroom lessons.  You can also Google message me or email me any time outside of the “office hours” and I will get back to you ASAP.

    About Me:

I graduated from University of California San Diego with a degree in British/American Literature, a minor in Spanish Literature, and an emphasis in Classical Studies (Greek and Roman History/Literature.)  I earned a GATE Certificate from Cal Lutheran University.  I have been teaching at Monte Vista for 20 years.  The first year I worked on Yearbook, but since then I've had the pleasure to coordinate Monte Vista's Spelling Bee each year.  Over the years, I've taught a variety of classes at Monte Vista: History, 6, 7, 8; Language Arts 6, 7, 8; Basic Spanish Elective; Geography Elective; Reading Intervention Elective; History 8 Honors, History 6 Honors, and Language Arts 6 Honors. My husband is an engineer at Pt. Mugu.  I have two sons.  One has a Business Degree from Cal Lutheran University; the other is studying Computer Science.

It is a privilege to work at Monte Vista!  The staff are supportive, hard-working, and creative. I love teaching middle school students!  They are enthusiastic, inquisitive, full of energy, and always changing.
