We are thinking through a lot of new information right now in our Distance Learning program! I am here for your children and for you.  Many of you are facing multiple challenges.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to me about anything.  We want this year to be meaningful and enjoyable while offering a standards based curriculum.

My communication will be through emails so it is important for you to look for subject lines that say Mrs. Monka as I will try to place that first so you know to open it as soon as possible.

Our class time will include engagment, lessons, review, and other opportunities to learn.  Please feel free to email me at any time with any questions, concerns, or comments.  Attached is my preliminary schedule but this may change.  Students must be in attendance during all live sessions and when invited, small group times. The Zoom invitation sent separately should connect you anytime during the day. Distance Learning Schedule Preliminary

Attached is our spring first grade website I am leaving here for support and extra activities.  Ignore any assgnments if they are still on the website as I can't change them because I am not the manager of that spring website put together quickly for the emergency time March to June.  https://LPSSAfirstgrade.weebly.com/

    Stay safe and hopeful!

Becky and her husband, Steve, raised their three children in Camarillo and are now grandparents to five boys. While the kids moved on, the animals remained.
Sports, clubs, and children was her life for many years, but now it's her kids' life!

Becky has been teaching a long time and it's been a very dynamic and rewarding career.
Becky has taught first grade over 20 years.  She's taught K, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students as well in a traditional classroom setting. In addition, Becky was the Teacher Supervisor for the PVSD home-school program K-8th in which she navigated the education of up to 45 students of all ages during a school year. She ran many programs within this district community teaching program including tutoring and family outreach.  She is GATE certified, she's been a GATE coordinator, the Area 6 and school site Spelling Bee coordinator, ASB advisor for both grade school and middle school, recipient of various Grants and Impact II awards, a school Speech Coordinator, and has served on various district and school site advisory boards. Becky loves teaching and thinks it's the best job in world!
She believes every student is a good student, so to all her students she says, "Believe!"
Becky's inspirational montra is "Students are like a vine; they grow, blossom, and become fruit."  Enjoy your year in first grade!
