Mr. John B. Reilley
I am very excited about returning as your principal here at Las Posas for another exciting school year! And, in case you didn't know, Las Posas has been recognized as a California Honor Roll recipient for the 2018-19 school year! This a fabulous honor from our State leaders as we continue to show excellent gains in academic growth and in closing the achievement gap for all student subgoups that attend our school. Congratulations to my staff and to you, the parents, for helping us to achieve this award which validates all of the hard work that happens each and every day on this campus!!!
Being a native Venturan, I graduated from Buena High in 1979, attended Ventura Junior College, and then earned my B.A. in Diversified Studies at Vanguard University in 1988. In 1998, I received my M.A. in Educational Administration from Azusa Pacific University. This year marks my tenth year serving as a school administrator and, overall, is my 31st year in education and have enjoyed making lasting memories along the way.
During my career, I have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of certification/training programs, including ELD/SDAIE Certification, the California School Leadership Academy, and various curriculum adoption committees in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Studies. I also served as the key personnel for researching and implementing the SPARKS physical fitness program to the Castaic Union School District in 2002. I am also a member of both the Phi Delta Kappa International and Pi Lambda Theta educational organizations, both of which are committed to promoting free public education in a democratic society.
Prior to returning to PVSD in 2014, I was an assistant principal for 3 years. During my 22 years of teaching, I taught grades 3-5, and substituted in grades K-6. A little closer to home, I began my teaching career in 1990 at Santa Rosa, and taught 4th grade there for 7 years. Fortunately for me, my career path eventually led me back to the Pleasant Valley School District.
As for my own family, my lovely wife Carol and I have raised 6 children between us. They are all young adults now and are learning how to navigate their new freedoms and responsibilities, along with providing us with 4 awesome grandkids! We truly love this part of the country and love to explore and learn new things as often as we can.
I am anticipating so many great experiences for the 2019-2020 school year, with the best being that I will have numerous opportunities to get to know you and your children. Feel free to reach out to me anytime, either in person, by phone, or email. My goal is to make every day the best day of the school year for all kids!
Here’s to a great new school year!
