Hello Mustangs!

I am excited to be your Assistant Principal for the 2018-2019 school year and look forward to working with all of you to ensure Las Colinas is a safe, academic, and socially secure environment.  As we work together to make the Mustang family the best it can be, we can all look forward to this being the best year ever.

I am excited to reconnect with returning 7th and 8th graders and cannot wait to meet our new students and incoming 6th graders.  For those of you new to the school, here is a little bit about me:

I grew up in Rosemead, California, and am a product of our state's excellent public school system.  I attended Mildred B. Janson Elementary School, Muscatel Junior High and Rosemead High School.  After graduating in 1980, I entered the University of California, Los Angeles and received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1984.  More recently, I completed my Master of Science in Education from Purdue University in 2016.

My teaching career began when I accepted the position of Director of Religious Education for the Chapel at Pt. Mugu Naval Base (Now Naval Base, Ventura County) in 1992.  After that, I substitute taught in the Moorpark Unified School District before looking for a full time position.  I began teaching at Las Colinas Middle School in the fall of 2001.  As well as a classroom teacher, I have served the students of Pleasant Valley School District as Teacher on Special Assignment, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal.  In total, throughout my career, I have experience teaching and administrating in grades kinderaarten through eight. I hold a Clear California Administrative Credential, A California Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a Crosscultural Language and Academic Development Certificate, and a Tri-County GATE Certification.  I am actively involved in the California Reading and Literature Project at California Lutheran University.

I live in Moorpark, CA with my husband, three dogs, one cat, and five chickens.  My two children have graduated from college and are embarking on their own individual careers.

If you have any questions, need clarification, or have feedback, please feel free to contact me.
