Ms. Kayleigh Kelp

I am excited about the opportunity to join the staff at Las Colinas Middle School, and serve the students and families of this wonderful community!

I have previously spent the last two years as the Assistant Principal at Monte Vista Middle School. Prior to that, I worked as an elementary teacher at Pleasant Valley School of Engineering & Arts. Throughout my almost decade of educational experience, I have sought out leadership positions and have participated on various committees and leadership groups. My core values are integrity, relationships, efficiency, support and empowerment. I use these values to guide my personal and professional life. I have found that these values contribute to positive leadership skills and provide me with the confidence to lead effectively. I believe in creating positive learning environments for students and staff, where individuals feel safe, respected, and valued. I am passionate about restorative justice practices and equity education for special education students. I am eager to work collaboratively with our community to best meet the needs of all our students. My ultimate goal as an educator is to coach teachers and students to be their best selves. I want to instill and motivate life-long learners and prepare all students to be successful in society. My goal is to inspire kids to work hard and be good people!

I obtained my Bachelor's degrees from Purdue University in both Elementary Education and Special Education. My fiance and I moved to California five years ago when I started teaching at PVSEA. I obtained my Master’s degree and credential in Educational Leadership at CSUCI in 2020. I have a passion for education and love working with students of all ages. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, traveling, art, watching movies, and spending time with my dog, Reggie.

I look forward to building relationships with all our students, families, and staff, and I am very happy to be a part of the LCS family. Go Mustangs!
