Welcome To Ms. Kallik's Teacher Page
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year. I am excited to be teaching 7th and 8th grade SAI Language Arts and Directed Studies at Las Colinas. I have been a teacher for 25 years, focusing on Language Arts and Social Studies.
I was born and raised in Southern California, where I love to hike in Yosemite and swim at the beach. I came to live in Camarillo 10 year ago because I knew that Camarillo was an excellent place to raise children. I am a mom to two girls, 9 and 4 who attend PVSD schools.
This year I will focus the curriculum on reading and writing skills. Most, not all, of the work will be done using paper, pencil, and books in lieu of technology. Over the last year students have missed out developing the skills associated with books and paper learning. Additionally, multiple studies indicate that pen, paper and book learning allows students to retain knowledge better than computers.
We will be reading and writing everyday in class. It is important that students come to class with their writing journal, pencil, and a charged computer. Textbooks are stored in class. Students primary homework is the reading log. It is due every 2 weeks and requires the signature of an adult. Reading at home is vital to improving a students reading comprehension and writing skills.
Please contact me at any time if you have any concerns or questions regarding you student.
