Migrant Education

Under the guidance of the Director of Special Populations and Educational Support at the Ventura County Office of Education, the Migrant Recruiter is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and enrolling students into the Migrant Education Program.

Students qualify for Migrant Education for a limited number of years if their parents work in agriculture, fishing or the livestock industry as migrant labor. Migrant Education supplements the regular program of instruction with educational support as well as offers social services such as medical/dental emergency assistance.

The Migrant Recruiter conducts periodic home visits throughout the year to verify eligibility, provide summer school instruction, and to review program activities. The recruiter is also available for parent/teacher conferences or to translate any oral or written communication for the parents and children.
