District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)
What is DELAC?
DELAC is the District English Learner Advisory Committee and provides the opportunity for parents of English learners to meet to advise the district's local governing board on programs and services for English learners. A California public school district with 51 or more English learners must form a DELAC.
DELAC advises the PVSD governing board on the following:
- The English Learner Master Plan
- District-wide needs assessment
- District program goals and objectives for programs and services for English learners.
- Plan to ensure compliance with any applicable teacher and/or teacher aide requirements.
- District reclassification procedures and required written notifications
DELAC members review and comment on the development or annual update of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).
A school site with 21 or more students identified as English Learners forms an English learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). The school site's English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) elects a representative to serve as a member of DELAC. For more information regarding your school's ELAC please contact your principal.
