"Excellence Begins And Ends With Transportation"
The Transportation Department is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of Special Education students as required by law. If your child requires special education services, contact the Special Education office.
Additionally, any remaining seats may be used to transport regular education students. This bus service is called Space Available busing. This is a free service to families attending their neighborhood school, living a greater distance away, or separated by a railroad crossings or freeways and large highways. Space Available busing selection is a lottery. After the lottery, if seats still remain, it will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Our expected lottery application period for the 2021-2022 school year will be all of May, 2021. The random lottery will take place during the first week in June. Traditionally, the Space Available busing program provides service to Rancho Rosal Elementary, Las Colinas & Monte Vista Middle Schools. At this point in the current environment, it is unclear what social distancing protocols may be in place next school year.
As the COVID-19 situation changes, PVSD will continue to adapt transportation plans to best serve the needs of more families in the safest way possible. Social distancing protocols will impact the capacity of each school bus resulting in fewer spaces available for riders. As a result, our primary responsibility is to the Special Education students.
